Rachakonda, Telangana September 30, 2025: In a major success against narcotics trafficking, the Special Operations Team (SOT) Maheshwaram Zone, in coordination with the Abdullahpurmet Police, busted an interstate drug peddling racket and seized a huge consignment of 1,210 kilograms of ganja, valued at ₹6.25 crore, being transported from Odisha to Rajasthan via Hyderabad.
The accused, Vikram Vishnoi alias Vikas (22), driver from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was arrested along with the vehicle — a TATA Ultra truck (RJ-19-GH-9295) used to transport the contraband. Police also seized a mobile phone along with the truck and ganja.
Smuggling Modus Operandi
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was working with key Rajasthan-based smugglers, Devilal alias Katu, Aayub Khan, and Ramlal, who were operating a distribution network to supply ganja across the state. For each trip, Vikram was promised ₹5 lakh.
To conceal the contraband, the accused transported cement bags in the vehicle and stacked the ganja packets underneath, covering them with tarpaulin to evade detection. The consignment was sourced from the remote forest areas of Malkangiri, Odisha, and was bound for Rajasthan distribution networks.
Swift Police Action
Acting on credible intelligence, the SOT Maheshwaram Zone team, along with Abdullahpurmet Police, intercepted the vehicle on September 30, 2025, at NH-65, Kothaguda X Road, and seized the contraband under due legal procedures.
Police Commitment Against Drug Menace
Rachakonda Police emphasized that the arrest marks a significant step in dismantling interstate smuggling operations. The force remains committed to:
* Disrupting the drug supply chain
* Identifying traffickers and consumers
