Chandel, Manipur, October 18, 2025: In a significant operation aimed at curbing cross-border insurgent activities, Security Forces successfully apprehended two active juvenile cadres belonging to the proscribed outfit United Tribal Volunteers (UTV) from Salluk village near Chakpikarong, under the jurisdiction of Chakpikarong Police Station, Chandel District.
The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of suspected cadres travelling from Churachandpur towards Tamu, located across the Indo-Myanmar border. Acting swiftly, the joint team of Security Forces intercepted the suspects at Salluk and carried out a detailed search and verification process, which confirmed their active association with the banned outfit UTV.
Both the apprehended individuals have been identified as juvenile members of the organization, reportedly involved in facilitating cross-border communication and logistic movement between UTV operatives in Manipur and their counterparts in Myanmar.
Following the apprehension, necessary legal procedures were initiated, and the juveniles were handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and appropriate rehabilitation measures, as per the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The successful operation underscores the vigilance and coordination of the Security Forces in maintaining internal security and preventing anti-national elements from exploiting the border routes for insurgent activities. Continuous efforts are being made to monitor cross-border movements and neutralize militant networks operating in the region.
