Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka: In a proactive step towards building a drug-free academic environment, the Chikkamagaluru Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) has launched an anti-drug awareness campaign on its Tegur campus. The initiative has been implemented under the guidance and advice of the Chikkamagaluru District Police, as part of their ongoing efforts to sensitize youth about the dangers of substance abuse.
To effectively convey the message, awareness hoardings carrying impactful slogans and visuals highlighting the harmful effects of drug use have been installed at key locations within the campus premises, including the main entrance, hostel areas, and student congregation points. These hoardings emphasize the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug addiction, while also encouraging students to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Speaking about the initiative, officials from the police department stated that educational institutions play a vital role in preventing young people from falling prey to drugs. The campaign aims to empower students with knowledge and to strengthen community participation in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
The District Police have been conducting continuous awareness programmes in schools, colleges, and public spaces as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with the goal of eradicating the menace of drug use from society.
The collaboration between the Chikkamagaluru Police and CIMS reflects a strong commitment to promoting a safe and healthy learning atmosphere for the student community.
