Thrissur Rural, Kerala: In an exemplary act of swift action and compassion, the Thrissur Rural Police successfully prevented a young man from committing suicide on the railway track in Muriyad during the early hours of January 12, 2026.
At around 2:00 a.m., a woman from Muriyad called the landline of the Aloor Police Station, reporting that her husband was missing and expressing concern that he might attempt suicide. Immediately upon receiving the information, GSCPO Sunandum, who was on duty at the station, along with CPOs Ashiq and Anoop, gathered details from the caller and obtained the missing man’s phone number.
With the assistance of the Thrissur Rural Cyber Cell, police conducted a technical investigation which revealed that the young man was positioned on the railway track near Muriyad Gate. This information was promptly relayed to G.A.S.I. Minimol and G.S.C.P.O. Jibin, who were on night duty.
With the support of local residents Vysakh and Rakhil of Kunnathara, Muriyad, police reached the location and found the young man waiting on the tracks, intent on ending his life. The officers approached him with patience and empathy, counseled him, and convinced him to leave the tracks. He was safely brought to the Aloor Police Station.
Later, family members were contacted and the police advised them to take the individual for free counseling at the Irinjalakuda Women’s Police Station Counseling Center to ensure emotional support and rehabilitation.
Thanks to the timely intervention, coordination, and humanitarian approach of the Thrissur Rural Police, a precious life was saved, reflecting their commitment to community welfare and crisis response beyond traditional policing duties.
