Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: On January 24, 2026, while police personnel led by Sub-Inspector Janagan were on patrol in the area under the jurisdiction of the Tirunelveli Pettai police station, they stopped and questioned a person riding a two-wheeler in the Sathya Nagar junction area. He was identified as Maharaja (36), son of Mariappan, a resident of Seetharpallur, and it was found that he was carrying 4 kg of ganja for sale.
Similarly, in the Pettai area, when police personnel led by Sub-Inspector Arulselvan were on patrol, they searched a minor and Isakkimuthu alias Karuppa (28), son of Ramesh, a resident of Thiruppanikarichalkulam. They were found to be in possession of 1.200 kg of ganja. Following this, all three were arrested, and the ganja and the two-wheeler vehicles were seized from them.
