Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: A monthly crime review meeting was held at the Tirunelveli District Police Office on February 10, 2026, under the chairmanship of District Superintendent of Police Maru. V. Prasanna Kumar, IPS. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the progress of investigations across the district, the status of pending cases, court proceedings, and the steps being taken to curb drug smuggling and the sale of ganja and tobacco products. Special focus was also laid on firm action against those disturbing public peace and habitual offenders.
During the review, the Superintendent of Police issued clear directions to intensify enforcement against narcotics-related offences and anti-social activities, while ensuring timely investigation and effective follow-up in court cases to secure convictions.
Earlier in the day, SP Maru.V. Prasanna Kumar, IPS, inspected the police vehicle fleet maintained at the district office. Appreciating the good upkeep of the vehicles, he interacted with drivers, gave important safety and maintenance instructions, and enquired about vehicle performance and technical issues to ensure readiness for field operations.
In a morale-boosting gesture, the District Superintendent of Police presented certificates of appreciation to 102 personnel, including police officers, constables and government prosecutors, who played a key role in promptly producing witnesses in criminal cases and securing convictions. The recognition highlighted the importance of coordination between investigation officers and prosecutors in strengthening the criminal justice process.
The proactive review, emphasis on crime control and drug prevention, along with the recognition of dedicated personnel, reflect the Tirunelveli Police’s strong commitment to maintaining law and order and delivering effective justice.
