Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh: In a decisive crackdown on anti-social activities, a special team constituted under the directions of the Superintendent of Police, Kakinada district, conducted a surprise raid within the limits of Samarlakota Police Station on Saturday.
Acting on credible information about illegal gambling activities in Navara village of Samarlakota mandal, the SP’s special team carried out a sudden inspection and apprehended six persons red-handed while playing cards for money.
During the raid, police seized cash amounting to ₹4,540, seven motorcycles, one Tata Ace vehicle, and five mobile phones.
The arrested accused along with the seized property were handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Samarlakota Police Station for further legal proceedings. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
On this occasion, the SP issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against those involved in gambling activities such as card games, cockfights, or other betting practices anywhere in the district. The public has been urged to promptly inform the police about any anti-social activities in their area.
