Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a proactive initiative to safeguard students from the growing threats of cybercrime, the Cyber Crime Wing of Tirunelveli City Police conducted an extensive cyber awareness programme at Vivekananda Vidyashram Matriculation School, Palayamkottai.
The programme was organized as per the instructions of Tirunelveli City Police Commissioner, Dr. N. Manivannan, I.P.S., and under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S. Vijayakumar. The session was led by City Cyber Crime Police Assistant Inspector Ms. Swathika.
During the interactive session, students were educated about various forms of cybercrimes, including social media-related offences, online employment frauds, financial scams, and money laundering activities. The officers highlighted the importance of responsible internet usage and explained the potential risks associated with sharing personal information online.
Students were also informed about the immediate steps to be taken if they encounter cyber fraud. They were encouraged to promptly report incidents through the national cybercrime toll-free helpline 1930 or via the official portal: (https://cybercrime.gov.in/).
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of Tirunelveli City Police to promote cyber safety awareness among the younger generation and to build a secure digital environment through preventive education.
