Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: The Tirunelveli District Police has issued an official clarification regarding false information circulating on social media about an alleged conspiracy behind the vandalism of a Ganesha statue in Melak Colony, J.J. Nagar, Kalakkadu.

According to police sources, a complaint was lodged by Surendran (43), a resident of Melak Colony, J.J. Nagar, Kalakkadu, stating that a stone idol of Vetri Vinayaka had been vandalized by unidentified persons during the early hours of February 26, 2026. Based on the complaint, a case was promptly registered at the Kalakkadu Police Station.

Acting swiftly, police personnel rushed to the scene, conducted an immediate investigation, and arrested three individuals involved in the incident. The accused have since been remanded to judicial custody.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the act was committed under the influence of alcohol. Authorities have confirmed that there was no larger conspiracy or ulterior motive behind the incident.

The District Police have appealed to the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified or misleading information on social media platforms. They have also cautioned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who circulate false news regarding the matter.
