Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a proactive step to ensure strict enforcement of election norms, Sekhar Deshmukh Sanjay, Commissioner of Tirunelveli City Police, conducted a surprise inspection on March 19, 2026, at key check posts including V.M. Sathiram Check post and KTC Nagar Check post, falling under the limits of Perumalpuram and Palayamkottai police stations.
During the inspection, the Commissioner reviewed the functioning of the check posts and issued clear instructions to Flying Squad personnel and police officers regarding the effective implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming elections.
He also advised the public that anyone carrying cash exceeding ₹50,000 or valuable items such as gold and silver must possess valid supporting documents to avoid legal complications during inspections.
The visit was accompanied by V. Vinoth Santharam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
The surprise inspection reflects the police department’s vigilance and commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
