Shivamogga, Karnataka: Sagar Police have achieved a significant success against illegal narcotics cultivation by raiding a marijuana plantation in Gautampur village near Anandpur and seizing 16.4 kg of raw ganja plants valued at approximately ₹2.10 lakh.
Acting on information received by senior officers regarding the illegal cultivation, police conducted a search of the garden behind the accused’s residence and discovered the prohibited cannabis plants. Basavaraj and Kumar, residents of Gautampur, were identified in connection with the case, and Basavaraj was arrested.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police Benaka Prasad, led by Sagar Police Inspector Santosh Shetty, Sub-Inspector Praveen, ASI Halappa, and police personnel Parashuram, Prashant, Niranjan, Nutan, Santosh, I.T. Santosh, Sunil, and Abhishek.
The successful raid highlights the Sagar Police’s proactive efforts to eradicate illegal drug cultivation and prevent narcotics from reaching the community.
