In a dramatic turn of events, a special police team in Cuddalore district opened fire on a wanted history-sheeter early this morning after he attacked police personnel in a desperate attempt to evade arrest.
The accused, identified as Gopi, was wanted in connection with the brutal murder of a man named Naresh on August 16. Gopi had been absconding since the crime, prompting the police to form a special team to track him down.
The Hideout and the Confrontation
Acting on highly specific intelligence inputs, the special police squad managed to trace Gopi to a remote, secluded hideout concealed within a cashew and casuarina grove situated near Muthandikuppam and Pulavankuppam in the Neyveli region.
As the police team strategically moved in to cordon off the area and ordered Gopi to surrender peacefully, the situation escalated. Refusing to yield, Gopi reportedly attempted to break through the police perimeter.
Police Fire in Self-Defense
Armed with a deadly sickle, the suspect turned violent and launched an unprovoked attack on the advancing officers. Facing an imminent and serious threat to their lives, the police were forced to open fire in self-defense.
The officers fired a calculated shot, striking Gopi in the leg to neutralize the attack and prevent his escape.
Suspect Secured and Hospitalized
Following the precise strike, the police immediately disarmed the suspect on the spot and took him into custody. Ensuring immediate medical protocol, the injured suspect was rushed to the Cuddalore Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Medical authorities have stated that Gopi is currently in stable condition. Meanwhile, the police are continuing their investigation into the August 16 murder case, and further legal actions will proceed once the suspect is medically cleared.
