<![CDATA[The Thursday was just another day at Mulund police station, but their staff roster had a novel addition: a seven-year-old ‘Senior Police Inspector’. Dressed in uniform, Kolkata native Arpit Mandal was in charge of the station for the day, realizing his dream of becoming a police officer. Arpit, who is being treated for cancer at Tata Memorial Hospital, said, “I want to catch criminals and put them in jail as they are bad people. I want to serve my nation when I grow up.” Deepak Bhatia, CEO, Make-A-Wish India, said, “Doctors contact us to help fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening diseases. We aim to lift the spirits of children battling for life. We try to make sure they complete their treatment and not give up.” Police Sub Inspector Savita Mane said, “Arpit spent time with officers trying to understand how an officer goes about his job and life.” On Friday, Mumbai Police, posted pictures with Arpit on their official Twitter handle with the message: “Mulund Police Station was completely won over by the undaunted spirit of a 7-year-old Arpit Mandal. Fighting cancer. If we could, we would fulfill all his wishes beyond just being a Police Inspector for a day. #ProtectingSmiles.
