<![CDATA[Hyderabad: Cybercrime is an offence that are committed against individuals or groups of individuals with a criminal motive to intentionally harm the reputation of the victim or cause physical or mental harm, or loss, to the victim directly or indirectly using modern telecommunication networks such as Internet and mobile phones. Cybercrime may threaten a person and financial health. A city based divorced woman filed a cheating complaint on a Nigerian national for cheating her off Rs.5 Lakh rupees and based on the complaint with the cybercrime police the accused was arrested in Delhi. On arresting the accused the police identified him as Abel Odara from Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh, and a native of Nigeria. Cyber Crime ACP Mr.S. Harinath said the complainant, who was cheated of Rs. 5.45 lakh, received a message from a person on www.shaadi.com who identified himself as Dr. Ayush Tyagi. When she got introduced to the man through the online matrimonial site, www.shadi.com she began chatting with him and the man told her that he was intending to relocate to Hyderabad from abroad to start his own medical clinic. He told the complainant that his wife died in a car accident and that he lives with his daughter. Mr Harinath said that he told her that he was expected to arrive at the Mumbai International airport in August and that he has booked the tickets to India while sharing his travel plan with her. The woman got a call in the first week of August from a lady who introduced herself as Ms. Pooja from customs department, Mumbai airport stating that Dr. Tyagi was in their custody for laundering money of Rs.3 crore. Believing it to be true, she deposited ₹ 5.45 lakh into different bank accounts. She later realized that she had been cheated and lodged a complaint with the police. The police on the basis of the complaint arrested Odara in New Delhi and he was brought to Hyderabad on a transit warrant. The seized materials included 13 mobile phones, two passports, etc. from his possession.]]>
