City Police Commissioner takes the complaints and promises prompt implementation

Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Mr. Sandeep Patil on Friday attended calls that came in reporting various issues and he responded to them by giving them assurance that their complaints will be looked into and action will be implemented.

On responding to a caller who complained about a vehicle with heavily tinted glass moving around in Urwa Market during his first phone-in here, Mr. Patil asked the traffic police to intensify the drive and punish owners/drivers of such vehicles besides removing the tint. Stringent action will also be taken against the users of vehicles without registration plates, he assured the caller.

Mr. Patil on attending a caller from Pandeshwar was told about a public nuisance just outside his office premises that instant food makers on pushcarts have occupied the pavement adjacent his office in front of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavana on Mangaladevi Road. These not only obstruct movement of the public but are also a nuisance to women too. The Police Commissioner was prompted to take immediate action to remove them.

Mr. Patil, on receiving a complaint from another caller who stated that students of Srinivasa College in Pandeshwar park their vehicles on Shivanagar Main Road thereby obstructing vehicular movement. The Commissioner asked the traffic police officers to sort out the issue without inconveniencing both residents and students.

Mr. Patil also promised that action would be promptly taken on a complaint filed by a Hat Hill resident who said that streetlights were not there and immoral activities are taking place in parked cars in the area.

In yet another call received by Mr.Patil, the caller who is a resident of the area complaint of blasts during the nights and other nuisance. He also asked the Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) to inspect a stone-crushing unit at Phajeer village near Konaje.

Mr. Patil received a general complaint from a woman from Padil about the absence of traffic signal lights, zebra crossings on roads and inadequate footpaths across the city. Mr. Patil promised to address the issue.

A caller made a complaint about the nuisance by Bengaluru-bound private buses being parked between PVS and Bunts Hostel during nights, the Commissioner responded and said that he would make a spot visit soon to address the issue.

During the session Deputy Commissioners of Police Hanumantharaya (Law and Order) and Uma Prashanth (Crime and Traffic), Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M. Manjunatha Shetty, DK Bus Operators’ Association President Dilraj Alva and others were present.
