Kolkata: Another illegal arms factory near the airport was raided by the Special Task force of Kolkata police on Saturday and 10 unfinished 7mm pistols were seized from the location, DC(STF) Mr.Murlidhar Sharma said. An investigator said that during the raid conducted on Friday, the police arrested Munna who was the only local operative of his gang. Munna led the police to the arms unit in Chhoto Ganti village in Rajarhat. The other six members of the gang hail from Munger. Munna’s interrogation helped the police to bust this illegal factory, the third one so far known to have been operated by the gang. The weapons seized in the earlier occasion were ordered by miscreants in Bangladesh, besides some notorious criminals in Kolkata and north 24 parganas. The weapons comprised of improvised 9mm pistols, around 90 in number. A police source said while even five years ago, the 9mm variety of guns were sold for as high as Rs.25,000/-, this gang was selling the same for Rs.4,000/- – Rs.10,000/- A ready clientele base ,it seems the gang had because making 100 pieces of these weapons in mearly 4 months was not an easy marketing job.]]>
