LUCKNOW: On Thursday, Police have arrested a man for setting a fire on a teenage girl. The victim aged 17 is identified as Sandhya and the accused as Golu aged 22. Both hailed from the same village. A stalker from a village set ablaze a teenage girl in Kotwali police station area of Sitapur district for the refusal of marrying him. The aftermath of the incident, the minor victim was taken to the civil hospital in Lucknow for treatment where she succumbed to death due severe injuries she received. Doctors said that 70% of her body was burnt. It was on Wednesday when the parents of Sandhya was not present at their Hajipur Village home, the stalker Golu entered rudely in the house around 5 pm and poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze. On hearing her cries, her younger sister who was in another room rushed and tried to douse off the blazing flames. She also called her father and informed about the incident. Police team reached the spot according to the information received from her father. Based on the statement of Sandhya, police registered a case against Golu for an attempt to murder, trespassing, causing injury by weapons and voluntarily causing hurt. Police arrested the accused from his hideout and sent him to jail. The senior administrative official also said that sections of POCSO Act had been slapped on him.]]>
