PATNA: Fortunately, the intervention of police in the district of Samastipur saved the lives of two railway engineers. They got captured on the suspicion of being child-lifters and a mob without vivid probe thrashed them impulsively. Samastipur Superintendent of Police Vikas Burman said that the engineers had gone to near Munnichak-Sarsauna village to conduct a survey for the railway track. While they were moving near the village, the residents spotted them and suspected them as members of a child-lifter’s gang. As a result, the villagers held the duo as hostage and physically assaulted them. Since the rumours of a child-lifter gang was very much prevalent in the area. In another relative incident, a mentally challenged man aged 35 was brutally assaulted by a mob at Prarepur Chowk on suspicion of being a child-lifter. Better was his luck when police came to his rescue. The mob pelted the police with stones when they intervened. The police patrolling car was also damaged by the mob. The victim was hurried to the primary health centre where he was referred to the Sadar hospital at Samastipur for better treatment. The health condition of a man was out of danger said the police. ]]>
