<![CDATA[Chennai:In order to prevent crime and to increase security in Chennai division Railway Protection Force RPF (RPF) plans to install CCTV cameras at 43 stations and appoint 140 women in Chennai division said Southern Railway chief security commissioner today. The Southern Railway under its Corporate Social Responsibility scheme plans to approach business houses to fund the project. The railways had got one company of special force and sought another one the commissioner said. Parhi said, "Chennai division will get an additional 1,700 personnel. In addition, 140 women personnel will be recruited and trained as part of Mahila Vahini battalion. The future idea is to ensure that 10% of the force will reach out to women passengers". The railways was developing a pan-India app for passenger security. "Apps at zonal level have not worked well, so there are plans to introduce an all-India app. Plans are on to popularize 182 security helpline’’, Parhi said. Meanwhile railway officials are visiting colleges and institutions situated on either side of railway line to distribute pamphlets for people to use the helpline. We have also asked for three lines for each division for the helpline which currently gets 7-10 security related calls and hundreds of other calls everyday," he added.]]>
