Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh: Sonbhadra Police have achieved a significant breakthrough against interstate narcotics trafficking by arresting two members of an interstate drug-smuggling gang and recovering 220 kg of illegal cannabis.
According to the police, the accused had allegedly procured the cannabis from the Sundargarh/Kalahandi region of Odisha, using funds provided by associates operating in Delhi. The contraband was being transported from Odisha to Delhi through Sonbhadra.
To evade detection, the cannabis was concealed inside a specially constructed secret compartment in the vehicle. Investigation revealed that the members of the trafficking network-maintained contact with one another through mobile phones, and the seized contraband was allegedly intended for distribution in Delhi.
The action reflects Sonbhadra Police’s zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics trafficking and their continued efforts to disrupt interstate drug networks and prevent illegal substances from reaching communities.
