Bengaluru : A murder accused who was absconding for the last 12 years has been arrested through the MCCTNS (Mobile-Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System) app.
Ramesh, a resident of Ramanagara in Karnataka, is the arrested person. It is known that he was caught by the police while walking suspiciously on the 1st main road of BK Nagar, Yeshavantpur on Tuesday night.
Recently, Home Department has distributed fingerprint verification devices to police stations through MCCTNS mobile app. When a suspect is taken into custody and the police uses the device to check his fingerprints, it will be known if he has been involved in any cases in the past.
Similarly, when Ramesh was checked by the Yeshwantpur police, it was found that he had a criminal history.
On Tuesday night, Ramesh was standing on the side of the 1st main road of the city. Suspicious of the behavior of the driver, the team led by Sub Inspector C. Raju, who was patrolling the same road, immediately took him into custody and checked his fingerprints. Involvement in the murder case is confirmed in the data.
In 2005, Ramesh went to paint a house in Balaji Nagar of Tigalarapalya under Tawarekere police station. The owner of the house had given a rented room to Ramesh to stay next to that house. The accused used to have a party with 8-10 of his friends in this rented room.
The house owner objected to this. Ramesh, who was in awe of this, killed the owner. The accused, who was arrested in the case and went to jail, got bail and came out. Since 2010, he had escaped without attending the court proceedings.
The court had also issued warrants against the accused. However, he was not present. After this murder case, Ramesh, who became sober, was living in Ramanagara. The police informed that he was married and leading a life without taking part in any illegal activities.
