Vijayawada: The ABCD Awards program, which had been suspended for several years, was revived by DGP Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, IPS, following the orders of Hon’ble CM Mr.Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Vangalapudi Anita. Today, the DGP presented the Awards for Best in Crime Detection (ABCD) for April-June 2024 to four police personnel for their exceptional case-solving performance during a ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri.
The investigation team, led by the Kakinada district SP, won first place for solving a high-profile bank robbery case, receiving a citation and a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. The second prize went to the Anakapalli district SP and team for solving a serial killer case, while the Guntakallu Railway Police SP and her team secured third place for cracking a sensational train robbery. A consolation prize was awarded to the Konaseema district SP and team for their work in solving the Ambedkar statue destruction case.
In addition to the ABCD awards, the DGP also presented certificates of appreciation to the SSPs and police officers from Nellore, Kurnool, and Guntur districts for settling a large number of cases in the National Lok Adalat, significantly reducing the backlog of cases in the courts.
