Thrissur City: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Guruvayur Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. KG Suresh has ordered the investigation into the theft of three kilograms of gold and Rs.2 lakh from the house of an expatriate gold trader at Thampuranpady in Guruvayur. The accused Raju (26) was arrested.Dharmaraj alias Raju is accused in several theft cases. In the year 2021 there were about 15 house breaking cases in Pazhayannur, Mannuthi and Ollur in Thrissur district and in Perinthalmanna station limits in Malappuram district. He is accused in the house breaking cases in Kulappilly, in the case of stealing the bike of a native of Idukki from Angamaly in Ernakulam district and in the case of stealing the bike from the limits of Elamakkara police station.
The accused escaped from Thanjavur South police station while serving his sentence for theft.The theft took place on May 12. The boy, his wife Rugmini and grandson Arjun Driver Briju went to the cinema in Thrissur at 2.30 pm on the day of the theft. When he returned home at 9.30 pm, he found out about the theft. The accused went upstairs through the back of the house and opened the back door and went downstairs and escaped. The robbery was carried out by opening the cupboard. The robbery took place between 7.20 pm and 8.30 pm and he escaped in a two-wheeler. The scene of the accused was filmed on TV but it was not clear.The accused was nabbed after an antiquated investigation led by Mr. Manoj Kumar. Police checked the entire CCTV cameras on the roads where the accused had gone. Attempting to rob a doctor’s house in Kulappully from investigating similar theft cases Police received the footage. The person could be more clearly identified in the scenes here. The tattoo on the accused’s wrist also helped in the investigation. The accused was arrested during the ensuing investigation.
The accused had gone to Delhi with his family the day after the Guruvayur robbery. The accused stole gold and cash from a house on Thampuran Padi while staying with his family in Edappal in Malappuram district. The accused, who entered Delhi after the robbery, was caught while leading a luxurious life with his family.
