Madurai: In Madurai District, Cyber Crime Police Station has been started from (01.03.2021), Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Mani IPS, Police Inspector Mrs. R.Ponmeena, and 3 Sub-Inspectors, 9 Police Officers are working effectively. In this case, on the orders of the Madurai District Superintendent of Police, among the complaints of missing mobile phone cases reported in the police stations in Madurai district in the last one month by the Cybercrime Police Station 50 mobile phones worth Rs.7,10,000/- was discovered and handed over to the appropriate persons on (27.08.2022) by Madurai District Superintendent of Police Mr. Siva Prasad, IPS.
So far 827 mobile phones worth Rs.1,15,73,850/- have been found and handed over to the concerned persons due to the prompt action of the Madurai District Superintendent of Police. Also, due to the quick action of the Superintendent of Police in the cases of thefts that took place in a sophisticated manner by knowing the bank account details of the public claiming to be speaking from the banks, steps have been taken to get back Rs-3,67,920/- and so far Rs.31,93,650/- has been got.
Be aware of fraudulent people claiming to be from the bank and don’t get cheated by giving details like secret number, bank account number, CVV and OTP to someone you don’t know.
Also, don’t be fooled by paying money before trusting investment apps that promise double money and don’t get fooled by online loan apps that charge high interest for low principal, and don’t attend video calls from unknown people. Madurai District Police advises not to download remote access apps like Anydesk, Team Viewer etc. and if anyone loses money in the above manner, they can report to the toll free number 1930 and the website address https://www.cybercrime.gov.in 24 hours a day, Superintendent of Police has told the public.
