With consistent support of the Andhra Pradesh Government, continuous monitoring and supervision of DGP Mr. K.V Rajendranath Reddy IPS and dedicated efforts of Police forces in Agency areas to eradicate Ganja produced positive results this year. Andhra Pradesh Police launched the Ist phase of special drive from 30.10.2021, to prevent Cannabis cultivation and transportation. The police destroyed 7500 acres of Ganja cultivation in the Agency areas of Vishakhapatnam and East Godavari Districts. In 2022, Andhra Pradesh Police succeeded in eradicating cannabis cultivation in G.Madugula, G.K Vedhi, Chintapalli, Peddabayalu, Muchanggiputta, Dambriguda and Paderu mandals. In the Ist and IInd phase of Special drive this year, awareness was created among people about consequences of Cultivation and transportation of Ganja.
Old criminals were identified and applied PD Act. Farmers in Agency areas are supplied with seeds of non marijuana crops at free of cost. They were provided with opportunities to grow crops like ginger and turmeric. In Ist and IInd. phases, identified Cannabis cultivated areas through satellite images, using technology with support of Greyhounds, SIB and destroyed crops in 600 acres. Special check posts were set up for continuous vehicle checks and surveillance on new people entering the Agency area. The police seized 2,45,000 kilograms of Ganja across the State in 2022. Action Plan for 2023: Special focus on cultivation, supply and transport of Ganja. Attention on networks supplying Marijuna to schools and colleges. Hoardings will be arranged at all schools & colleges with SEB toll free numbers to create awareness on Cannabis, Ganja Destruction.
