The scheme involves recording the recipient’s face during the call and subsequently creating a compromising video with the individual’s likeness, then demanding a ransom. This includes threats to share the video with one’s contacts. Some individuals succumb to fear of reputational damage and send money as a result. It is crucial to stand firm against such coercion. It is advisable to exercise caution when receiving WhatsApp calls from unfamiliar numbers and to promptly block them. Let us remain vigilant and resolute in safeguarding ourselves from deceit.
