Ferozepur: The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab held a significant meeting with members of village defense committees and local residents in Bare Ke village in Ferozepur District, which is located near the India-Pakistan border. The meeting focused on several critical issues, particularly the rising concern of drug and weapon smuggling across the border.
One of the major announcements was the plan to deploy advanced anti-drone technology along the entire length of the India-Pakistan border within the next year. This initiative aims to prevent the smuggling of drugs and weapons, which are often delivered via drones from across the border. The deployment of this technology is seen as a crucial step in enhancing the security and safety of the border areas.
To further incentivize public participation in this effort, the authorities announced a reward of one lakh rupees for any individual who helps the police in capturing a drone coming from across the border. This initiative is designed to encourage vigilance and community involvement in combating illegal activities.
Additionally, the meeting emphasized the role of village defense committees and panchayats in the fight against drugs. It was highlighted that committees and panchayats that demonstrate exceptional work in eliminating drug trafficking and consumption within their communities will be recognized and rewarded. This recognition serves both as a commendation for their efforts and as an encouragement for others to join in the fight against drugs.
A special emphasis was placed on the role of women in this battle against drug abuse. The Governor and the DGP called upon women to take an active, revolutionary role in eradicating drugs from the state. They acknowledged that women, being integral members of families and communities, can be powerful agents of change in promoting a drug-free environment.
The meeting concluded with a call for public cooperation with law enforcement agencies. The officials stressed that the success of these initiatives heavily depends on the active participation and support of the local population. By working together, the government and the people of Punjab aim to create a safer, drug-free state.
