North and middle Andaman: On 01.08.2024, a report of foreign poachers in the coastal area of the N&MA district was received. In response, an anti-poaching team led by ASI Muchray Munda, along with HC Ashok Samaddar, PCs Manikandan, Sushil Sarkar, Vijay Kumar, Gaurav Hawladar, and Shoaib Ali from PS Kalighat, was swiftly formed. The team gathered information from local fishermen, devised a plan, and conducted an anti-poaching operation in the suspected areas.
The team actively searched the coastal and creek areas of North Reef, where poachers were believed to be hiding, and commenced combing operations throughout the coastal region. During the operation, they discovered a foreign poacher concealed in the Loha Tikry creek with an engine dinghy. The team surprised the poacher and ordered him to surrender. However, the poacher attempted to flee into the jungle. The team quickly pursued and successfully apprehended him.
The apprehended poacher was brought to PS Kalighat and will be transferred to PS CCS for further investigation. The anti-poaching team continues its search for additional poachers. This successful operation highlights the dedication and effectiveness of the anti-poaching team in protecting wildlife and combating illegal poaching activities. The exemplary bravery displayed by the team has been praised, and they will be suitably rewarded.
