Bidar: In response to the recent rise in extortion cases reported in Bidar city, an Anti-Rowdy Squad was formed specifically for the Bidar sub-division. Led by Superintendent of Police Mr. Channabasavanna IPS and Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Mahesh Meghnavar, the team, under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Satish KM, consisted of dedicated officers from the Anti-Rowdy Squad Bidar city.
On 06.3.2023, their relentless efforts paid off as they successfully apprehended an inter-state extortionist. The arrest was made possible through the diligent work of Mr. Hanumaraddappa, Police Inspector of Gandhi Gunj Police Station, and Mr. Santhosh, PSI of the Fingerprint Section, along with the assistance of their dedicated staff, including Mr. Bandanawaj, Mr. Bhimanayak, and Mr. Anand Singh from Gadag District.
The operation resulted in the recovery of two cameras that were extorted from Gandhi Gunj Police Station. Furthermore, cash amounting to Rs.2,000/-, 10 grams of gold, and a motorbike used in the commission of the crimes were seized. The total worth of the confiscated valuables and property amounted to Rs.1,43,000/-.
These extortion cases were not isolated incidents, as the accused individuals are believed to be responsible for a total of 20 similar crimes committed in the cities of Tandoor, Hyderabad, and Kalaburagi. While one of the accused remains at large, the apprehended suspect was promptly produced in court to face justice.
The commendable work carried out by the officers and staff involved in cracking these two extortion cases is worthy of recognition. As a token of appreciation, Bidar District SP Mr. Chennabasanna SL IPS personally rewarded the team members who actively participated in this successful operation.
