The Anti-Corruption Department and Andhra Pradesh Vigilance Commission collaborated to host Vigilance Surveillance Awareness Weeks from October 30, 2023, to November 5, 2023. A workshop took place at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, where the Chief Secretary (CS) unveiled the Vigilance Manual and Vigilance Handbook crafted by the Vigilance Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh.
Chief Secretary to Government Jawahar Reddy mentioned that the Central Vigilance Commission annually observes a week-long Vigilance Awareness Week on October 31st to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. This year’s theme is ‘Say no to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’. The aim is to increase public awareness about preventing corruption.
D.G.P. & Anti-Corruption Department Mr. KV Rajendranath Reddy emphasized that they have been observing this vigilance awareness week since the year 2000, spanning 23 years. The Anti-Corruption Department is committed to eradicating corruption, and everyone must contribute to this cause. He also noted the positive response from the public regarding the ACB-14400 App and Call Center, which facilitate the reporting of corruption.
Director General of Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Institute, RP Sisodia, commended the active role of the Vigilance Commission in the state. He stressed the importance of understanding the root causes of corruption in society and implementing substantial measures to combat it.
State Vigilance & Enforcement Director General Mr. Sreekumar Vishwajith suggested that reforms in the system could be instrumental in eliminating corruption. State Vigilance Commissioner, Veena Ish, delivered the welcome address for this Vigilance Awareness Week, highlighting the release of the revised Vigilance Manual, building upon the original edition introduced in 2003. The event also featured welcoming remarks from ACB Additional Director P.H.D. Ramakrishna, ACB Joint Director Adnan Naeem Asmi, as well as the participation of various police officers and officials from different departments connected to vigilance and the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
