<![CDATA[A group of men attacked two police constables in the early hours on Thursday and took away the rifle issued to the constables by the police department. The constables attached with Kodigehalli police station have sustained injuries as they were attacked with boulders. This is the second attack on policemen in consecutive days. The Kodigehalli police received information that some people roaming around Amco Layout near Ganesha temple were creating nuisance in the midnight. The message was passed to night patrolling Cheetah police constables Mr. Paramesh and Mr. Siddappa by 1.30 am. Before police reached the spot, the locals gathered in the area and suspects moved out of there. When the constables learnt the suspects have moved towards Tata Nagar, they headed there on the bike. They saw the persons trying to hide behind a parked car on Eight Main road. When the policemen tried to go to the car, the miscreants rushed towards them and kicked the bike and made them fall. The rifle with Paramesh too fell off. The miscreants attacked Mr. Paramesh with boulders and Mr. Siddappa too. They then took the rifle fearing that the police may shoot at them. Mr. Paramesh sustained injuries on his forearm, while Mr. Siddappa sustained minor injuries. The duo constables managed to get up and gave a chase, but the miscreants managed to escape through 10th main and crossed the drainage by climbing up its wall. Mr. S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast division) said Mr. Paramesh and Mr. Siddappa, are constables and they have sustained injuries in the incident. “We have taken up the case and making efforts to nab them and to recover rifle,” he told.]]>
