Panchkula: On Tuesday night, six armed men committed two separate robberies within a two-hour span in Panchkula. Pritam Kumar a resident of Baltana, informed Panchkula police that he manages a money transfer shop in Buddanpur village.
He reported that while he was closing his shop around 10 pm, three masked men armed with weapons entered his shop while their three accomplices stood outside as guards.
The attackers pointed a country-made pistol and a sharp weapon at Kumar, taking Rs.1.5 lakh from the counter and assaulting him. The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras.
As they left, the assailants shut the shop’s shutter and threatened to kill Kumar. He called his landlord, who came to his aid and opened the shutter. Together, they alerted the police, who arrived and started investigating. A case was registered under Section 397 of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at the Sector 14 police station.
Ninety minutes earlier, the same robbers also targeted a scooterist at around 8:30 pm. The victim, Shoaib, was attacked on the head, and Rs.2, 000 was stolen from him. He reported the robbers were armed with a pistol. Both victims were treated for their injuries at the civil hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula.
