<![CDATA[Hassan: A gang of 5 members including a woman who used to rob people after persuading them to enter into a honey trap were arrested by the Arsikere police. With the arrest of the accused the police have solved five cases of extortion in which the gang was involved. All the members of the gang are residents of Bengaluru. They were identified as Pavan Yadav, Arpitha, Kiran B.R., Dore, and Hemesha H.K. Superintendent of Police Mr. A.N. Prakash Gowda said at a press conference on Wednesday that through the social media, Facebook, Arpitha would develop a friendship with people through her fake accounts, and trap them. Later the gang would extort money from the victims. In the first week of December, Naveen Kumar, a resident of Hosur in Tamil Nadu fell as a victim to the gang and they robbed him of Rs. 1.07 lakh. Arpitha had lured Naveen Kumar to Hassan and the gang kept him in a hidden place and collected the ransom from his family to release him. In another incident the gang robbed a person of Rs. 2,000, a wrist watch and cell phone near Arsikere on December 22. As a gesture of appreciation the Superintendent of Police has announced a cash reward of Rs. 10,000 for the police team who apprehended the gang.]]>
