Trivandrum: The State Police Chief Mr. Anil Kanth IPS has issued guidelines to find those who deserve the cash award instituted by the Central Government to rescue those who are in critical condition and rush to the hospital as soon as possible. The award recognizes those who provide medical care within an hour of receiving an accident.As soon as such an incident is noticed, the police will contact the doctor of the hospital and collect the details and check whether there is a person who has escaped eligibility for the award as per the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
If it is found that there is, the District Collector who is also the Chairman of the District Level Appraisal Committee will be informed in the prescribed format. A copy will be given to the rescuer.The District Level Appraisal Committee will review such recommendations every month and forward the relevant ones to the Transport Commissioner. The cash award will be given by the Transport Commissioner to the deserving persons.A state level monitoring committee has also been formed to evaluate the implementation of the scheme.
The committee meets every three months and nominates to the Central Government for the National Award the three most outstanding rescue workers.The State Level Monitoring Committee is chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, the Principal Secretary of the Health Department, the IG of the Traffic and Road Safety Division and the Member Secretary of the Transport Commissioner.
