Madurai: An awareness program was jointly organized in Balamedu Kirtana Hall, by the District Police, and the Revenue Department in Madurai. The event, presided over by District Collector Sangeeta and inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, saw the participation of District Superintendent of Police Sivaprasad, Revenue Commissioner Salini, Additional Superintendents of Police Karupiah, Kamalak Kannan, and Deputy Superintendent Chandran. The program featured activities such as an awareness speech competition, art show, and drama, with students from Palamedu Government Higher Secondary School taking part. Souvenirs were presented to the winners. Additionally, a school students’ awareness rally addressing untouchability, alcohol abolition, social justice, and drug prevention took place. Participants included Youth Justice Committee member Pandyaraja, Balamedu Municipality President Sumathi Pandiarajan, Vice President Ramaraj, Acting Officer Devi, School Headmaster Thirunavukarasu, Inspector Geetha, Sub Inspector Krishna Pandi, Murugesan, and executives from Palamedu Village Public Hall Swami Math Committee, comprising officials from the police, municipality, Revenue Department, Education Department, and social activists. Social activist Mr. Kesavaraj conveyed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
