Muzaffarpur: The Bihar Police has arrested the main accused who attempted to rape a college student aged 20. The accused failing to rape the girl set her on fire on December 7.
The college student aged 20 is from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur. She had been stalked by her neighbor and he attempted to rape her bur after she resisted the rape attempt the accused set the girl on fire. She was taken to the hospital on Monday night but by then she had suffered 95% burn injuries. From Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) where she was initially admitted she was shifted to Apollo Burn Hospital in Patna on Tuesday for the purpose of specialized treatment. After the incident, the district magistrate also made a visit to the victim’s parents and discussed the possibilities of a giving the girl specialized treatment. Mr. Alok Ranjan Ghos (District Magistrate) said that the medical expenses will be borne by Muzaffarpur district administration.
In connection with the incident, the Zonal Inspector General of Police Mr. Ganesh Kumar has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.
The accused who was identified as Raja Rai also sustained burn injuries on his palms. He was arrested for the crime and is currently being treated.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) town Mr. Ramnaresh Paswan, SHO Mr. Abha Sinha, and SHO Ahiyapur PS Mr. Vikas Kumar Rai under the guidance of the Senior SP Mr. Jayant Kant said that they would ensure justice to the victim along with a speedy trial of the case.
The statement of the girl was recorded by the DSP in the presence of magistrate Lalita Kumari and Abha Sinha.
