Mr. Krishna Prasad IPS said I had the incredible honor of bagging a well-deserved bronze medal in the prestigious “Comrades Run: The Ultimate Human Race,” a grueling marathon covering approximately 90 kilometers. It was a true test of endurance, pushing my physical and mental limits to the edge. Crossing the finish line with a time of 10 hours, 13 minutes, and 57 seconds was a moment of triumph that will forever be etched in my memory.
Throughout the race, my mindset was a delicate balance of fearlessness and caution, especially when it came to the five cut-off points. These checkpoints served as milestones, challenging me to maintain a steady pace and stay within the designated time limits. To ensure success, I strategically managed my energy expenditure, reserving my strength for the final leg of the race. Drawing inspiration from the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, I followed the principle of “Struggle, Truce, and Struggle,” mirroring his approach in fighting against colonial rule.
Just as Gandhi boldly protested any form of discrimination from the very start, I made my voice heard in the Comrades Run, commencing in Pietermaritzburg. It was a poignant reminder of the historical significance of this location, where Gandhi himself was forcibly removed from a first-class compartment. With every step, I stood against discrimination, pushing for equality and inclusivity in the world of running.
My achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and guidance of the running community. The camaraderie among fellow runners and the encouragement I received from various running groups were invaluable. Their shared experiences and advice propelled me forward, keeping me motivated and focused on my goal. I am deeply grateful for their presence throughout my journey.
In addition, I owe a debt of gratitude to my seniors, whose wisdom and encouragement bolstered my confidence. Their mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping my approach to the race, instilling in me the belief that I could overcome any obstacle. Furthermore, the unflinching assistance of a trusted friend provided me with the much-needed support along the way. Their unwavering commitment and dedication were a source of inspiration when the going got tough.
Above all, my family’s unconditional love and support were the foundation of my success. Their unfazed belief in me, even during the most challenging moments, fueled my determination. Their presence at the finish line, their cheers of encouragement, and their unwavering belief in my abilities were a testament to the power of love and the strength it provides.
Receiving the bronze medal in the Comrades Run is not just a personal triumph but a culmination of the collective efforts of everyone who played a role in my journey. It serves as a reminder that with perseverance, support, and a resilient spirit, we can conquer even the most daunting challenges. This experience has left an indelible mark on my life, serving as a testament to the power of determination, community, and unwavering support.
