CHENNAI: A Sub Inspector suffered burn injuries that allegedly led to his death here in Chennai on Wednesday. According to Police, Karpagamani (57) was residing along with his wife and two sons at First Street, Kamarajar Nagar, Ennore. On 14 January when his wife had been cooking her saree caught fire and Karpagamani tried to rescue her. When Karpagamani had pulled her saree to save his wife the saree came off her body and got entangled in Karpagamani’s hands, Police said. In the act, Karpagamani saved his wife but he suffered around 33 per cent burn injuries on his hands and face. He was immediately taken to the hospital and was undergoing treatment at the Kilpauk Medical College at Kilpauk following which he succumbed to injuries on Wednesday, Police said. Police said, Karpagamani had served the Tamil Nadu Police department for the 30 years. He is survived by his wife and two sons.]]>
