Hyderabad, Telangana: In a significant operation against the illegal drug trade, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, in coordination with the Saifabad Police, successfully apprehended three accused involved in the unlawful procurement and sale of Mephentermine Sulphate Injections.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police intercepted the accused near Shree Maruti Logistics, beside the HP Petrol Pump Lane, within the Saifabad Police Station limits, while they were transporting the contraband on a Yamaha Aerox scooter. During the operation, officers seized 100 Mephentermine Sulphate Injection (10 ml) vials, the scooter, and three mobile phones, with the total value of the seized property estimated at ₹4 lakh.
The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly sourced the prescription injections illegally through a transporter from a supplier in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and were selling them at inflated prices for illegal profit. Since Mephentermine is a prescription-only medicine, its unauthorized sale and misuse pose serious health risks, including high blood pressure, cardiac complications, and cardiac arrest.
The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu, with the dedicated efforts of SI M. Madhu, SI K. Rama Rao, SI M. Mahesh, PC K. Santosh Kumar, the Charminar Zone Task Force, and the Saifabad Police Station staff. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the illegal supply network.
This successful crackdown highlights the Hyderabad Police’s unwavering commitment to combating illegal drug trafficking, protecting public health, and preventing the misuse of prescription medicines through proactive intelligence-led policing.
