Chengalpattu: In Madhuranthakam sub-district of Chengalpattu District, within G5 Soonambedu police station limits, a counterfeit Pondicherry brand of alcohol was discovered being sold. Following the directive of Chengalpattu District Superintendent of Police V.V. Sai Pranith, Madhurandakam Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Sivasakthi, and under the supervision of G5 Soonampedu Police Inspector Mr. M. Amirthalingam, a special task force was assembled, led by M. Amirthalingam, to conduct extensive surveillance.
During a vehicle inspection on Alathur Road in Alathur village, a suspicious INNOVA car was stopped and searched. Inside a cardboard box, 48 bottles of Puducherry brandy, each with a capacity of 180 square meters, were discovered in 49 cartons, totaling 2352 bottles. The driver of the car, identified as Devanathan (38), was interrogated. A total of 2352 bottles of car and brandy were seized in 49 cartons, with an estimated value of Rs. 6,45,000/-.
