Chennai: Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Cell (IPREC) is the premier agency of enforcing the Copyright Act, Patent Act, IPR Acts. Intellectual property rights is an umbrella term that includes patents, copyrights, trade Marks, Design Registration, Plant Variety, Trade Secrets, and Geographical Indications. On the directions of Mr. Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, IPS, Addl. Director-General of Police, Crime, Chennai, the IPRE Cell is taking various actions on the violators of Copyright and IPRs Acts. While so, the IPREC Chennai I Unit had seized various fake/counterfeit / infringed domestic and industrial products. On disposal of a case registered in the year 2018, the case properties of 600 school bags using the name of leading brands were ordered to dispose of by distributing the same to orphanage children by the Hon’ble Special Judge, XI MM Court, Saidapet, Chennai.
Mr. D. Ashok Kumar IPS, Superintendent of Police, IPRE Cell, Chennai identified the following 6 orphanages in Chennai such as Seva Chakra Children Home, Real Charitable Trust, CHILD Children Care Home, Sri Arunodhayam Charitable Trust (Home for Mentally Challenged Destitute), All the Children and Samarpana – Home for Spastics and Mentally Challenged for distributing the said counterfeit case properties and informed the in-charge persons to collect the properties.
On 08.02.2022, representatives of these institutions and a few children were handed over School Bags by the Addl. Director-General of Police, Crime, Egmore, Chennai. They expressed their heart full thanks to the Police Department. Mr. Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, IPS, Addl. Director-General of Police, Crime, Chennai also interacted with children and representatives from institutions.
