Chennai: The Chennai Traffic Police in order to clear the traffic congestion due to water logging moved into action by getting into the water that was as far as knee deep and with the help of materials got from the neighbors opened a manhole and allowed the water to drain into it and this was done at the peak to enable the safety and free flow of traffic and pedestrians. On Saturday morning when Traffic Inspector Mr.S. Somasundaram and two young constables came to take over their duty at the T.T. Muthaiah Street in Kothawal Chavadi they noticed that the traffic was disrupted and vehicles were hardly moving and noticed that the Pedestrians were not able to cross the road due to water logging in the area. This happened to be the peak hour where all people will be going to their offices, schools and colleges. The Police personal without wasting any time and without hesitating moved into action without waiting for the Chennai Corporation the three police officials, Mr. Somasundaram, Mr. M. Muthukumar and Mr. S. Deenadayalan took the crowbar and bucket from the residents and got down to work to free the road of water logging and opened a storm water drain to let the water pass away. The Police Inspector (Traffic) Mr. Somasundaram said that as we noticed that the water was logging in such a way that it would hamper the movement of school and office goers and that they will soon arrive so we had no other option but to jump into action ourselves, in the interest of the people. ]]>
