Under Operation Mukti Abhiyan, the AHTU (Anti-Human Trafficking Unit) team from Kotdwar embarked on a proactive initiative to promote child welfare and safety. As part of this mission, the team diligently visited three schools located in the Kotdwar and Dugadda regions. The primary objective of these visits was to empower and educate the young students about critical issues such as child begging, child protection and rights, child marriage, cybercrime prevention, the adverse effects of drugs, as well as the essential services provided by the Uttarakhand Police App and the Police Emergency Helpline 112.

During these informative sessions, the AHTU team ensured that the children gained a comprehensive understanding of the aforementioned topics. The team members passionately conveyed the importance of safeguarding children’s rights, the dangers associated with child begging, and the legal implications of child marriage. They also enlightened the students about the potential risks of cybercrimes and shared valuable insights on how to protect themselves online.

Furthermore, the AHTU team took the opportunity to shed light on the detrimental consequences of drug abuse, emphasizing the significance of leading a drug-free life for the overall well-being of the students. They also introduced the students to the Uttarakhand Police App, which serves as a valuable resource for accessing important information and services provided by the police department. Additionally, the children were made aware of the Police Emergency Helpline 112, emphasizing its role as a reliable and swift means of seeking assistance during emergencies.

In a heartwarming turn of events, the AHTU team’s dedication and efforts yielded tangible results. They were able to identify two girls who had dropped out of school and took immediate action to enroll them back into the education system. This act not only contributed to their personal growth and development but also exemplified the team’s commitment to ensuring every child’s right to education.

The visits conducted by the AHTU team under Operation Mukti Abhiyan played a crucial role in raising awareness among the students regarding important societal issues and empowering them with knowledge to protect themselves. By equipping the children with the necessary information and resources, the team significantly contributed to creating a safer and more informed environment for the young minds of Kotdwar and Dugadda.
