Coimbatore: In order to prevent road accidents in Coimbatore, the Coimbatore Police Department, District Administration and Highway Department are taking various measures. A review of past accident statistics reveals that speeding and dangerous driving is the cause of most accidents. So it was decided to take action against speeding vehicles (2017 2018) and Rs.40 lakhs was allocated for the SPEED RADAR GUN installation project through Road Safety Fund. In order to monitor the speed of vehicles from the private fund, an Automatic Speed Radar Gun has been installed at three locations on Avinasi Road, Sathyamangalam Road and Palakkad Road in Coimbatore at a cost of 39,71,880/- by Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore Mr. Balakrishnan IPS. , launched on (28/7/2023). This tool is set up to automatically file a case against vehicles speeding more than the speed limit of 40 kmph on the above mentioned Coimbatore roads. Therefore, the public is requested to drive vehicles only at the prescribed speed limit of 40 kmph while driving on the above roads in Coimbatore. It is hereby informed that appropriate legal action will be taken in case of failure.
