Tirunelveli: A consultation meeting against narcotics at Tirunelveli Balayangottai Nehruji Theater was organized under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli Sub Division Police, Dr. Murthy, IPS. He said that the number of colleges in four districts belonging to Tirunelveli Sub Division is 256. College students should not get addicted to drugs. Strict measures are being taken by the police to control the movement of drugs. We are also conducting an awareness program in colleges through the police department.
As a first step, it has been advised to set up a committee in the respective colleges to monitor the students so that they do not get addicted to drugs. He also issued a notice against drugs. Later in the program, everyone took a pledge against drugs. Superintendents of Police Mr. N. Silambarasan IPS (Tirunelveli), Mr. Albert John IPS, (Tuticorin) Mr. V.R Srinivasan (Thenkasi) Mr. Sundaravadanam, IPS (Kanyakumari), Anna University principal, and all college principals and professors were present.
