Kakinada: In a landmark ruling delivered on June 21, 2023, the Special Court for SC/ST Cases in Rajahmundry issued a life imprisonment sentence and a fine of three thousand rupees to the husband, identified as Bandi Suresh, for the heinous murder of his wife, Bandi Swarnalatha. The presiding judge, who is known for diligently overseeing trials involving SC/ST cases, pronounced the verdict.
The case unfolded after the marriage of Bandi Swarnalatha and Bandi Suresh from Vetlapalam village. Tragically, the marriage became a nightmare for Swarnalatha as Suresh turned into a daily menace. Fuelled by alcohol, Suresh subjected his wife to unimaginable mental and physical torment within the confines of their home. He ruthlessly targeted her, even resorting to despicable acts such as stepping on her throat and forcing her to ingest harmful pesticides.

Under his vigilant supervision, a conviction-based trial cases monitoring system was implemented in Kakinada district, following the directives of the Honorable Chief Minister and State DGP.
