Bilaspur:  Police has launched the “Chetna: Atulya Bilaspur, Surakshit Bilaspur” initiative, a comprehensive community policing program aimed at fostering a crime-free society through active public participation. This ambitious program is designed with several key objectives:

Crime Control through Public Involvement: The primary goal is to engage community members in efforts to control and reduce crime rates. By involving the public directly, the police aim to foster a cooperative environment where citizens and law enforcement work hand-in-hand to maintain peace and order.

Prevention of Crimes against Women and Children: Special emphasis is placed on preventing crimes related to women and children. The program seeks to create a safer environment for these vulnerable groups through awareness campaigns, education, and proactive measures.

Reduction of Road Accidents: Another significant objective is to minimize road accidents. This will involve community education on traffic rules, road safety workshops, and collaborative efforts to improve traffic management.

The program will incorporate a diverse group of community members to ensure broad-based support and engagement. This includes:

Teachers and Education Professionals: Educators, including retired principals and headmasters, will contribute their experience and community influence.

Cultural Figures: Individuals associated with cultural activities will help in promoting the program and fostering community spirit.

Members of Social Organizations: These members will bring in their organizational skills and networks to support various initiatives under the program.

Business Leaders: Representatives from the business community will provide resources and advocate for the program within their networks.

Municipal Corporation Representatives: These officials will help align the program’s objectives with municipal policies and resources.

To operationalize this community policing effort, “Chetana Mitra Samiti” committees will be established in each police station area. Each committee will consist of 15-20 members and will be formed by the police station in-charge and the Circle Superintendent of Police (CSP) or Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP). These committees will act as the local arms of the program, facilitating communication between the police and the community, organizing events, and driving local initiatives aimed at crime prevention and community safety.

Through these collaborative efforts, Bilaspur Police envision a safer, more secure community where citizens play an active role in maintaining law and order, thereby achieving the ultimate goal of “Atulya Bilaspur, Surakshit Bilaspur.”
