<![CDATA[Personnel attached to the Prohibition and Enforcement Wing (PEW) unearthed a truck full of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) concealed in a separate compartment in a pick-up truck laden with plastic egg shells being smuggled in Cuddalore district. The IMFL was smuggled from Puducherry to Tamil Nadu. Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Puducherry in this connection.Following a tip off, a police team led by Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police (PEW) K. Thirumalaisamy were conducting vehicle checks at Chavady check post in Cuddalore when they intercepted a Bolero pickup truck laden with egg trays. The police team found plastic eggs neatly stacked in trays in the rear while as many as 160 carton boxes containing 3,500 bottles of IMFL were concealed in the front separated by plywood. Egg yolk was poured all over the trays to make the plastic eggs appear real, the ADSP said. About 1,200 bottles each containing 750 ml and 2,750 bottles each containing 180 ml and bearing names of local brands of IMFL sold in Puducherry were seized. The truck was seized and its owner Lakshminarayanan alias Kuber (32) of Reddiyarpalayam had been arrested. The accused was directed by the smugglers to hand over the contraband to another person at Ulundurpet and he was not aware of the original destination, say sources.]]>
