NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Tuesday midnight arrested AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran in the Election Commission bribery case. Delhi Police had been questioning TTV Dhinakaran for the past four days. A special court in Delhi on Tuesday hearing the bribe charges against him asked Delhi Police as to why it was not taking action against TTV Dhinakaran. Mallikarjuna, Dhinakaran’s friend was also arrested for allegedly sheltering Dhinakaran. It is alleged that Dhinakaran had attempted to bribe Election Commission officials to reclaim the party’s disputed two leaves symbol that was frozen by the department. Sukesh Chandrasekar, who allegedly operated as Dhinakaran’s middleman to negotiate with the election commission officials was also arrested. Judge Poonam Chaudhary asked the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, “What action has been taken against Dhinakaran? The whole allegation is against him. Why is Delhi Police not acting against TTV Dhinakaran? The Police custody of Sukesh was extended by the court for three days for investigating further in to the hawala network. ]]>
