Bhopal : A two-day seminar on the subject of upgradation of all FSLs (Forensic Science Laboratories) of Madhya Pradesh began on, Saturday, December 17, at the Police Headquarters Conference Hall. In the seminar, a detailed discussion was held basically about the simplification, uniformity, use of new techniques and equipments in the test reports of FSL. The seminar was inaugurated by Director General of Police Mr. Sudhir Kumar Saxena IPS. The program was presided over by Mr. G.P. Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services/Crime Investigation Department, Police Headquarters Bhopal. Director FSL Mr. Shashikant Shukla IPS and other officers were present on the occasion. DGP Mr. Saxena said in his address that the faith of the honorable courts has shifted from oral evidence to scientific evidence. Very soon there will be a change in the law that forensic evidence will be made mandatory in cases where the punishment is more than six years. Therefore, its action plan should be made from now itself.
The DGP also said that more than 600 cases are being tested by the DNA branch in Madhya Pradesh, which is a matter of joy, but the pendency of DNA cases in the state is more than 9000, which needs to be reduced. That’s why a new DNA lab is going to start in Gwalior within a month. Along with this, an additional DNA lab is going to be started in Bhopal in about three months. After the recruitment of 44 scientific officers in the laboratories of Madhya Pradesh as soon as possible, it is expected that efforts will be made to reduce the pendency rapidly. Efforts were made in this seminar to prepare the test report of FSL in a very precise and simple language. The DGP also said that there is a great need for honesty in FSL. It is also expected from the scientific officers of the laboratories that they keep getting information about new technology and equipment and if any good technology or equipment is required, then inform the police headquarters so that efforts are made to purchase and use it.
